Senior Meals and Nutrition
Each year, the TUL Senior Meals and Nutrition Program serve 300 unduplicated senior citizens with an average daily attendance of 50 seniors. Caring and dedicated staff serve over 20,000 meals a year to eligible seniors. The needs of program participants are met through established partnerships with several community partners to provide high quality meals for breakfast and lunch, robust recreational activities and preventative health services. Program services also include transportation for clients that are handicapped or otherwise unable to provide their own transportation to the Quincie Douglas Neighborhood Center (service site) as well as other supportive services including medication pick-up and doctor visit assistance.
Eligibility is determined through a confidential intake process where clients complete Title III intake forms to ensure the income of the applicant meets the Arizona Department of Human Services poverty guidelines. Program information is distributed in both English and Spanish detailing services offered. The program coordinator documents the transportation needs of all eligible participants and provides information to the driver. Each client will complete a transportation request slip. This slip will provide details on the requested transportation including purpose, destination, and departure/return time. The program coordinator will also assist in finding the appropriate mode of transportation, if the client’s needs require additional resources.
